Our December meeting was held at Ballamys Saab in Shoreham
which is a Saab Main Dealer. Stephen Hunt, Managing Director of
Ballamys, was kind enough to offer his showroom to us for our meeting
on the evening.
The dealership has an unusual site because the showroom is on
one side of the road, and the servicing/parts department is on
the other side.
Food and drink were plentiful and so were the number of attendees.
We had at least 30 people attend plus the many staff from Ballamys.
The evening started off with a drink and a bite-to-eat, before
setting-off over the road to view the facilities that Ballamys
have. Their workshop is quite large and includes an MOT facility
several ramps and all the latest diagnostic equipment.
Ballamys had many second-hand and obsolete parts for sale in the
form of a mini ‘auto-jumble’. All the parts had to
go and members’ were told to make them an offer! Ballamys
have also suggested that they can provide regular lists of old
stock for our branch.
In their workshop were three customers (enthusiasts) cars which
were a classic 900 coupe, a classic 900 convertible, a 9000 CD
Carlsson and one staff car which was a modified 9-3 Viggen.
Towards the end of the evening, there was a free prize draw in
which there were four winners!
Whilst we had a large group of members in attendance, it was thought
to be a good time to confirm a date for a visit to Abbott Racing
in Essex. It was decided that Saturday 27th March 2004 was the
most suitable date. Details to follow in next month’s newsletter.
Next Meeting: Tuesday 13th January at
the Horseshoe Inn. < DETAILS
