Our first meeting of 2004 was held at the Horseshoe Inn in Windmill Hill near Herstmonceux. The management at the Horseshoe Inn had kindly given us use of a private function room with bar, so we could conduct the evening in relative peace and quiet.

Chris Knott from Chris Knott Insurance, the official insurance broker for the Saab Owners Club, was the visiting guest speaker on the night.

The evening was quite relaxed and informal. We started off just chatting amongst ourselves and once everyone had arrived, we handed over to Chris Knott.

Chris had plenty of useful information about insurance including statistics, current schemes, future schemes and customer profiles. Some of the more interesting statistics about the company are below;

• approximately 22,000 clients
• over 1,000 SOC Members have policies
• 85% of all vehicles insured are over 3 years old
• Recommended by 25 car clubs nationwide

The talk soon led into a discussion as Members asked questions about specific items Chris was talking about.

The evening proved a great success and Members came away from the evening with a better knowledge of the insurance industry in general as well as Saabs in insurance.
