26/07/2004 - Branch Secretary Appointed as IT Director of the SOC

At the Board meeting of the Directors of the SAAB Owners Club of GB on 18th July 2004, Toby Field, East Sussex Saab Branch Secretary, was officially appointed as Director of Information Technology.

The decision was taken by the board to appoint a new Director of IT after the previous one resigned. The role of the IT Director is to manage the IT facilities used by the club and to manage and implement a practical website solution.

Toby Field said on his appointment, “I was pleased to be approached by the club for this position and quite confident that I can make a change in this area. As a member and a branch secretary, I aim to bring visible benefits to these groups as well as to the other Directors”.

He also commented, “As a club we are not making good use of the technologies available on the market today. By doing so, we will save time and money and bring more quality services to our members”.

“As many members of the Owners Club will know, the current website is quite out of date and offers the member very little. The club’s website is the first thing many prospective members see. If our website doesn’t reflect the image that new members expect to see then many will not join”.

“With more and more people using the Internet we have to make our website more sophisticated, yet easy to use. Our members have high expectations as many commercial sites offer great features for no cost at all.”
