| In May, Saab attained its highest-ever share of the UK car
market since imports began in 1960. The premium Swedish carmaker
sold 2,382 cars last month, resulting in a record 1.27 per cent
share of the total new car market.
The good news just keeps on coming for the UK's fastest-growing
premium brand as Saab's inimitable brand values of aircraft heritage
and Swedish design prove too tempting for UK buyers to ignore. Whilst
total new car registrations declined by more than 3 per cent in
May compared to the previous year, demand for Saab's cars grew by
24 per cent. For the first five months of the year, Saab's registrations
took off by an even more inspiring 37 per cent on 2004, at 11,229
cars.
Yet again, this growth has been fuelled by an increase in demand
across Saab's whole model range, with year-to-date demand soaring
for every single Saab available on the UK market. And with the news
that convertibles accounted for a record 6 per cent share of the
UK car market in May, Saab is proud to have contributed to this
growth, with a 78% increase in Saab 9-3 Convertible registrations
during the month.
Commenting on the news, Saab Great Britain Managing Director Jonathan
Nash remarked: '2005 is proving to be a truly monumental year for
Saab GB, building on our success in 2004. With dealers now taking
orders for the stylish Saab 9-3 SportWagon, and with our fastest-ever
roadgoing engine on its way - the all-new 250bhp 2.8 litre V6 Turbo
- I am confident that this year can only get better for us!'.
